Please note that Monique has the support of many…parents, grand parents, community members, teachers, district employees, business owners, researchers, education advocates, community leaders. She has the respect of many elected officials as well as candidates running for office sharing her beliefs and willing to take action like her.
Monique will only accept the endorsement from groups whose special interests are the children of Ventura and whose goals are to raise the achievement bar while providing resources and support to the teachers of our District.
What They Are Saying
Monique Dollonne has the courage, drive, experience, knowledge and teambuilding skills to succeed at what others have failed to do --- and that is to get to the root cause of failures and to instill true accountability at every level in such a way as to foster excellence in education throughout the district. This excellence in public school education is essential to our nation if we are to develop high school graduates who will pursue the sciences in university in numbers that will allow the US to maintain superiority in wealth-creating fields within manufacturing, agriculture and conversion and within the field of medicine. I’m sure that Monique’s actions as a board member today will be with that vision of where our students must be tomorrow.
An anonymous caring Community Member
As a parent and a community organizer I started working with Monique 5 years ago. It was Monique that opened my eyes to so much corruption in education. She is the one who spent hours going through our school plan, our budget flaws, our Con App and SES reports. We walked the streets together and allowed hundreds of students to receive help while empowering their parents teaching them their rights under NCLB. At first I could not believe that our system could be so dysfunctional. I thought there were some misunderstandings that could be easily fixed by our “professionals” or our elected officials. Wrong!!!! The system cannot fix itself unless you and we, the citizens, the tax payers and the parents demand its fixing. It did not take me long to watch and observe the sad realities created by a self serving administration. The abuses of our Federal funds forced the Federal Government to intervene in several instances. Our teachers’ Union had to reimburse funding; our school district had to replenish supplemental funds caught into a double dipping process obviously illegal. I can now say that the communities in this State are sleeping and not asking questions. Who is there to blame for this rampant problem?
The children? The parents? The teachers? The system? I don’t think so! We are the ones to blame for letting this game go on and on years after years watching our children pay the price. Everyone is responsible for the state of the schools in our own individual community. Now the question is before us. What are we going to do? Do we let another two years go by and not demand change? or, do we say enough is enough. It is the responsibility of Ventura to say enough is enough. The elected Accountability keeps us honest. I understand now why Monique pushes so hard for accountability. The only people that would reject a person like Monique is a group that do not want accountability, transparency and change. Change is good if we really want reform. Change brings new ideas and innovation. We can't continue to keep the same gatekeepers with their old ideas and expect change. Monique is a person that will push for change. You will never meet a person that is so driven to bring reform like Monique. I will never forget the selfless hours on the phone as she helped me navigate through the education system. I did not understand about the school budget or anything else for that manner. I was a school site council chair, that in my opinion was a professional rubber stamping committee. I never questioned the administration and always believed that they knew what was best. I later learned that my voice was equally important. Monique helped me understand my true role and responsibility. I'll never forget how she would travel to San Diego at her own expense to help me. Ventura would be heading in the right direction toward reform if Monique was elected.
I know Monique will fight for what is right for all children. If the community is tired of schools declining then they must have the courage to demand change. Change is not popular but is needed.
Monique years of knowledge of the education law would serve her district well. Not many people would dedicate their entire life of serving families without getting paid. Not to mention having a supportive husband that allows you to go up and down the state serving communities. Monique has taken allot of abuse for trying to do the right things for the kids and family. She has inspired parents and educators to join their school site councils and bring resources to the teachers. She is able to identify the flaw of the reluctant bureaucracy. She knows when there is data manipulation. She has helped hundreds of parents in the dark as well as teachers afraid to ask for their entitled classroom resources.
I must give credit where credit is due. Thank you Monique for sowing the seed of advocacy in my heart!
I am now the President of CACEE and the California Title I Parent Association, our organization provides a platform to train and empower parents and educators, teaching them to work in together in compliance to produce change for the good of all children. I now believe that nothing is impossible when parents and educators are of one mind and purpose.
If you want progress for your community, vote Monique Dollonne on November 3rd. 2009!!! She will take action and get VUSD out of Program Improvement status level 3!!!!

Education Researcher
President of California Parents Educational Choice
As an educator, parent, and concerned community member, I wholeheartedly support Monique Dollonne for School Board. As a former parent Site Council member in the VUSD, I have watched the slow, downward disintegration of this school district to the point that there are no more excuses for the failures. The newly assigned Program Improvement 3 status of the district, the high student dropout rate, and poor State test results in too many of our schools are the hard evidence that a change in direction is desperately needed now. Monique Dollonne will provide that change.
This time when you vote for School Board members ask yourself, is the school district better off than it was the last time Board members were elected? The results from the Department of Education don't lie. The district can no longer claim to be better than average. Ventura's public school children deserve better. Vote for Monique Dollonne for School Board--a positive change for the better--a positive change for our children's future.
